Top 8 Male Fashion Trends That Rocked 2016

Gone are the days when women were the only one who took the spotlight when it came to fashion and slaying. We can all agree 2016 was a good year for the men when it came to over the top fashion, lets do a quick review of the top fashion trends men leaned towards in 2016.



Of course this would top my list, we now live in an era where keeping a full set of beards is now seen as cool and hip. Gone are the days when shaven and shorn jawlines were the norm. Admittedly the trend started in 2015 but it got more refined in 2016 and with all indication it’s here to stay
2. Ankara shorts:

Before, people wore more of Ankara trousers but only God knows when they decided to turn it into shorts. It was a cool trend until people started getting too extreme and started making the short above the knee and we all know any dude who’s comfortable wearing an above the knee short is a ___. The only time its acceptable for a dude to wear an above the knee short is when he’s going swimming or if he’s in his house.
3. Man purse :

or Murse as our American brothers like to call it. It looks like a purse but it’s a tad bit bigger and has more of a masculine touch. Rocked by mostly the fashionistas this fashion trinket was an accessory that made a statement which was ‘I know my onions when it comes to fashion’.


4. Shoes with tassels:

This is more of a throwback fashion brought back (patiently waiting for them to bring back boot-cut and baggy jeans), it goes very well with corporate and corporate casual. Though it didn’t start in 2016 it’s one of the pocket friendly footwear worn by 7 of 10 guys.
5. Chelsea boots:

or biased boots as I’d like to call them. Left to me id give it the classiest and most versatile shoe awards but it favors only skinny people with straight legs. Meaning if you have bowlegs and you’re on the chubby aide forget about it.
6. Round frame shades:

or Harry potter shades as I like to call them. It wqs the ladies who started wearing it but the dudes decided to appropriate it and rocked it better, it was so chic and common that snapshat decided to make it one of their popular filters.
7. Sweatpants :

My Favorite trend of them all. Sweatpants usually had a lazy laid-back look but shootout to The suave Nigerian fellows who redefined it and gave it a touch of class. It can now be worn as casual and I can swear I saw a dude pull it off in form of a suit and he nailed it. The awesome thing about it is that it fits all body sizes.

8. Yeezy:
This shoe goes best with sweatpants. In the beginning of 2016 the wheezy shoes were the craze of gidi. Almost everyone wore it to the point that it lost its value. Though we agree it was quite expensive and very classy but it came in so fast and fizzled out faster.
